I gave some friends my tickets to Lambeau Field for Sunday's Green Bay-Detroit regular-season final game, and they shot a video in the second half of a fan running onto the field getting tackled by Packers linebacker Brad Jones - and the video went viral. The video starts as the fan, reportedly a 15-year-old boy, starts running at midfield flapping his arms to get fans' attention. "Who is that?" my friend asks on the video as her husband starts laughing. As Jones makes the tackle and security piles on the person, the crowd cheers and the announcer makes the obligatory warning against running on the field. My friend posted the video on YouTube, and it now has more than 100000 views. Then the Huffington Post picked it up, and then ESPN contacted her to use it. Friends are posting it on Facebook. ]]> NZ V8 star Jason Richards has died. New Zealand V8 Supercar driver Jason Richards has died after a 14-month battle with cancer. He was 35. V8 Supercar officials and Holden confirmed Richards died on Thursday night at his home in Melbourne. He had been fighting a rare and aggressive form of cancer called adrenocortical carcinoma. Richards was a three-time Bathurst 1000 runner-up, and won three New Zealand touring car championships prior to moving into the Australian V8 series in 2001. He drove successfully for a variety of Holden teams in the V8 series - most recently Brad Jones Racing. Richards is survived by his wife Charlotte and children Sienna and Olivia. "Jason's family is appreciative of the many thousands of people who have offered their love and support during his battle with illness over the past 14 months,'' Richards' family said in a statement issued on Friday. V8 Supercars said a memorial service to honour Richards and his career would be held at Sandown Raceway in Melbourne in the next few weeks. Brad Jones Racing paid tribute to the talented Kiwi in a statement this afternoon. He formalized his music education by studying classical clarinet with Joe Allard while playing and arranging salsa numbers for high school bands on the side. He later studied with George Russell in the Third Stream Department of the New England Conservatory of Music and, while in Boston, also performed with Latin and jazz ensembles. For over two decades, Don Byron has been a singular voice in an astounding range of musical contexts, exploring widely divergent traditions while continually striving for what he calls "a sound above genre." As clarinetist, saxophonist, composer, arranger, and social critic, he redefines every genre of music he plays, be it classical, salsa, hip-hop, funk, rhythm & blues, klezmer, or any jazz style from swing and bop to cutting-edge downtown improvisation. He has been consistently voted best clarinetist by critics and readers alike in leading international music journals since being named "Jazz Artist of the Year" by Down Beatin 1992.
